Deliciously scented, hyacinth-like, lavender-blue, late-summer flowers appear at the tips of the leafy syems. This herbaceous clematis does not climb, but forms an open bush and is ideal for growing through a sunny mixed border where it can scramble amongst its neighbours. The fragrant, tubular flowers are highly attractive to bees.
- Garden care: Cut back the stems to the base of the plant each winter and apply a mulch of well-rotted garden compost around the plant, avoiding the immediate crown. Use twiggy prunings, ring stakes or bamboo canes to provide support.
