  The ultimate dual-purpose vegetable, you can pick this versatile bean young to eat pod and all as tender, tasty summer beans, or leave on the plant to form small, perfect white cannellini beans. Once pods have turned pale yellow the beans are ready and you can store them for a hearty ingredient to use in winter soups and stews.
  
  
• Growing Instructions:Sow in spring into modules and pot on as seedlings grow, or in early summer sow direct, 2cm deep in rows 60cm apart, choosing a sheltered, sunny spot with rich soil. Keep well watered and protect from slugs: mulch mature plants with compost to keep the moisture in the soil and suppress weeds. Mice love newly-sown bean seeds, so protect with a thick mulch of holly prunings to keep them off. Remove the prunings once young plants are up.
